Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers about paint protection film installation in Moncton.
Does PPF actually prevent rock chips?
Yes — this is PPF's primary purpose. Paint protection film is a thick, flexible film that physically absorbs the impact energy of stone chips and road debris before they reach your paint. Unlike ceramic coatings, PPF provides a physical barrier. For front-end protection against road debris, PPF is the right solution.
What does self-healing mean in PPF?
Self-healing refers to the film's ability to recover from light surface scratches. When the film surface is exposed to heat — from the sun, warm water, or a heat gun — minor scratches and light swirl marks in the film itself can disappear as the material flows back into shape. This keeps the film clear and looking clean over time without polishing.
How long does PPF last?
Longevity depends on the film quality, installation, and how the vehicle is maintained. Kavaca paint protection film carries a manufacturer warranty. Proper care — avoiding abrasive car washes, using pH-neutral soap, and not directing high-pressure water at film edges — is important for maintaining the film and its warranty coverage.
What is the difference between clear and matte PPF?
Clear PPF is optically transparent and preserves your vehicle's original finish exactly as it is. Matte PPF gives any painted surface a satin or matte appearance — you can apply it to a gloss-painted vehicle to give it a matte look, or use it to maintain a factory matte finish. Specialty film options are also available. Ask us about current availability.
Should I combine PPF with a ceramic coating?
Yes — and it is the most comprehensive protection available. PPF handles physical impact (rock chips and road debris). Ceramic coating provides gloss, hydrophobic self-cleaning properties, and protection against environmental contamination on surfaces not covered by film. Together they cover everything. The Official Ceramic Pro Ultimate Armor package combines full-front PPF with an exterior ceramic coating system.
Is PPF visible on the paint?
When properly installed, clear PPF is optically transparent and nearly invisible on your vehicle's paint. Edges are cut precisely to minimize visibility, and modern film is designed to conform to panel shapes without lifting or bubbling. After installation, most people cannot tell the film is there.
